Bud Not Buddy

My book share is about a book named Bud Not Buddy. Bud is the main character's name. Bud is just a typical orphan in Flint,Michigan because when he was six his mom died and his father had left them. Bud actually hates the orphanage but at least it was better than going to a foster family . Well that's exactly what happens to him. One day a unknown lady walks into the orphanage looking for Bud. She had told him to get packing because there was a family that was opening their door to him. He ended living with the Amoses who can be abusive.

Todd Amoses their 12 year-old son really is abusive and harsh to Bud. Like Todd shoves a pencil up Bud's nose and then acuses him of bed wetting and for that Mrs.Amoses punishes him by locking him in a dark shed with a bed but no sheet. Bud lasts a couple of days in there but then he sees that the windows are covered with newspaper , so he rips all of the newspaper off and breaks out in the middle of the night. Bud walks in the house of the Amoses and for revenge he wanted to make Todd wet the bed by putting his hand in warm water. But it didn't work so he just threw it on him and then he actually wet the bed.

The Amoses keep a shotgun in their house and he was thinking of using it but it was a little to crazy. After Bud's revenge he goes on a search for his father. He always had his suitcase no matter where he went he had it and in it he had a picture of his father so maybe he could find him. He thought he could walk the way to Grand Rapids,Michigan but along the way this guy in a car went by slowly while Bud was hiding in some bushes. The man got out and told Bud to hop on and he'll drive him. Bud fell asleep during the ride and woke up in a hotel he got to eat some good breakfast and he found out the man's name was Lefty Lewis. The next morning they are heading to Grand Rapids to find his dad. His dad is in a famous band so it might not be that hard he can look in the studio.

Bud looked in the studio for his dad and he thinks he found him. He explains to the band his story and Herman E. Calloway is his dad. Now Bud is officially a part of Herman E. Calloway and the Dusky Devastators of the Depression band and they give him a gift and the gift is a trumpet. But Bud finds out that Herman is actually his mom's dad so maybe he found is grandfather but at least he has a family member with him.
