In this book we have Dr.Brewer as Casey and Margaret's dad. But lately dad hasn't been himself he's been down in the basement for days and Casey And Margaret never seem to have time to bond with Dr.Brewer. Well Casey thinks he has the story of why dad won't come out of the basement, weeks before dad was in the basement all the time he had come home and said he got fired from his job for doing this very insane experiment and so now he's probably trying to finish the experiment he did at his job.
Dr Brewer was an ex-botanist who was fired. Later on Casey and Margaret notice that dad really isn't being normal because they caught him bleeding green,eating dirt,sleeping on a pile of dirt,and he even tried to feed Casey and Margaret dirt. So this tells them something is up and so they go down to the basement after their father had yelled at them to not go in the basement . Once they are in the basement the first thing they see is lots of plants every where and they smell something so weird .
It starts to get hot in there so Casey takes his shirt off. Then they start to walk around and they start hearing banging,screaming,moaning ,and it was coming from the closet Casey knew someone was in there so they all went to the closet and started breaking off the wood that was blocking the closet from opening it once they opened it the real Dr.Brewer was sitting in there his hand tied and his mouth shut with tape.
Casey and Margaret help him up and tell him what happened but all he could say was that he made a plant clone of himself and it wasn't supposed to do this. Well after the real Dr.Brewer got up he saw the plant clone and he cut him in half with a axe , and that was the last of the plant clone of Dr.Brewer. I really suggest you read this book because it's exciting and scary at the same time and it tells a great story of how plant experiments can sometimes go wrong.
